A 17-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a hammer as an offensive weapon.

The case was mentioned at Antrim Youth Court on Wednesday.

The matter has now been adjourned to January to fix a date for a contest.

The charges are connected to an incident at Ballymena Bus & Rail Centre in April this year.

Two youths have pleaded guilty to assaulting a schoolboy, believed to have been 13.

A 16-year-old boy admitted a charge of assaulting the boy and a second charge of having blades from a Stanley Knife in a public place.

A 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to assaulting the schoolboy.

The defendants cannot be named because of their ages.

In April police said a boy needed hospital treatment after suffering facial injuries.

At the time a local councillor alleged schoolchildren filmed the incident on mobile phones.
