A drunk man who swore loudly in front of families enjoying the sunshine on Portrush’s West Strand last summer has been given a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of disorderly behaviour.
Christopher McCrory (32), whose address was given as Cranfield Court in Portstewart, committed the offence on June 27 last year.
A prosecutor said a drunk McCrory was arguing loudly around 5.30pm with another male and was shouting and swearing.
He ignored requests from police to moderate his behaviour and was then arrested.
Defence solicitor John Murphy said it was “verbal disorderly behaviour”.
Coleraine Magistrates Court heard McCrory had an extensive record.
Imposing a two months jail term, suspended for two years, Deputy District Judge Peter Magill said he was “not madly impressed” with McCrory.
