A man who, according to defence solicitor David McIlrath, “had a few cans of beer’ at home while watching football was later detected driving with excess alcohol in his breath.
William Davis Shaw (51), of Fernisky Terrace in Kells, was caught at Fernisky Road on December 21 last year.
He pleaded guilty at Ballymena Magistrates Court on January 17. He had an alcohol in breath reading of 63 with the legal limit being 35.
The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
