£250,000 road and footpath improvement scheme for Clady

A resurfacing scheme on a section of the A42 Clady Road, from the Glenone crossroads to the Moneygran Road in the Clady area is due to commence on Monday 28 September 2020.

The improvement scheme will extend a distance of approximately 580 metres in length. The works will also include for the upgrade to 390 metres of existing footpath from the Clady Road development towards Portglenone to help encourage sustainable travel in the area.

For the period of the works from Monday 28 September to Friday 30 October, two-way traffic flow will be maintained on Clady Road with lane closures under traffic signal control.

From Monday 2 November to Sunday 15 November it will be necessary to close the A42 Clady Road to through traffic, between the Glenone crossroads and Ballymacombs Road, Portglenone.

During the road closure a two-way traffic diversion will be in operation along the Glenone Road, A54 Ballymacombs Road.

Advanced warning signage for the closure will be provided and diversion routes will be signed as necessary.

A spokesperson said: “The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. The public re asked to avoid the area whenever possible and to allow extra time for their journey. Local access will be maintained although delays can be expected.

“Completion of the work by 15 November is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.”
