AS covid restrictions were extended from areas like Ballymena to the whole of Northern Ireland at 6pm on Tuesday, it had earlier emerged 2 new cases were reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.
3 new cases were recorded in the local district the previous day.
There were 75 new cases reported across Northern Ireland in the last day – down from the previous daily figure of 125.
The 75 figure was the lowest daily rise since September 9 when 49 new cases were reported.
There have been 816 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 22,077 tests since the pandemic started.
The 2 new cases locally came from 136 tests.
There have been 801 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 2 since yesterday – and 466 – up 3 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.
The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 9,541.
Out of the 75 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Derry City & Strabane had 23; Belfast had 16 followed by Newry, Mourne & Down; Ards & North Down and Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon – each with 8.
Mid Ulster had 5 cases and Lisburn & Castlereagh had 3 cases.
Mid & East Antrim and Antrim & Newtownabbey each had 2.
Causeway Coast & Glens had 1 case.
One case, the location of which had previously been listed as ‘not known,’ was reallocated to a district.
The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 577.
In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.
The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
