ON the day localised restrictions were officially introduced in Ballymena 12 new covid cases have been reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last 24 hours.

There were two covid-linked deaths over the weekend – in Belfast and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavaon.

There were 109 new cases reported across Northern Ireland in the last day up from the previous daily figure of 87.

There have been 764 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 20,389 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There have been 746 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 12 since yesterday – and 446 – no rise – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 8,423.

Out of the 109 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 24 followed by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon with 13.

Antrim & Newtownabbey, Lisburn & Castlereagh and Mid & East Antrim each had 12.

Ards & North Down had 9.

Derry City & Strabane and Newry, Mourne & Down each had 7.

The location of 5 cases was given as ‘not known’ and Fermanagh & Omagh had 5.

Mid Ulster had 3 cases.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health is 570.

 

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
