AS localised restrictions officially enter their second day in Ballymena 7 new covid cases have been reported in Mid & East Antrim.

12 new cases were recorded in the district the previous day.

There was one covid-linked death – in Belfast.

There were 79 new cases reported across Northern Ireland in the last day down from the previous daily figure of 109.

There have been 771 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 20,565 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There have been 753 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 7 since yesterday – and 446 – no rise – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 8,502.

 

Out of the 79 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 23 followed by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon with 13.

Derry City & Strabane had 10 and Ards & North Down 9.

Mid & East Antrim and Antrim & Newtownabbey each had 7 and Lisburn & Castlereagh 6.

There were 3 cases in Newry, Mourne & Down.

The location of 1 case was given as ‘not known’.

 

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health is 571.

 

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
