AS localised restrictions officially enter their sixth day in Ballymena and the BT43 postcode area 11 new covid cases have been reported in Mid & East Antrim.

6 new cases were recorded in the local district the previous day.

There were 222 new cases reported across Northern Ireland in the last day – believed to be the highest rise for a number of months – up from the previous daily figure of 163.

There have been 804 cases in Mid & East Antrim.

There have been 790 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 14 since yesterday – and 457 – up 2 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 9,165.



Out of the 222 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 57 followed by Newry, Mourne & Down with 39.

Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon had 31 and Derry City & Strabane had 27.

Antrim & Newtownabbey had 14 and Ards & North Down had 13.


Mid & East Antrim had 11 and Lisburn & Castlereagh had 10.

There were 9 new cases in Fermanagh & Omagh; Mid Ulster had 7 and Causeway Coast & Glens 2.

The locations of 2 cases were listed as ‘not known’.


The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health is 575.

Figures for deaths are not released at weekends.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
