Bailey the cute Yorkshire Terrier who caught the eye of the Duchess of Cambridge during her recent visit to Ballymena was subsequently badly injured after being attacked by another dog but has been saved by a vet.

Bailey belongs to Ballymena pensioner Andrew McKay.

Andrew and Bailey can often be seen out walking around the town especially at the Saturday Market.

Earlier this year Andrew and Bailey made the national papers when Kate Middleton was delighted to meet the inseparable duo.

However, it was reported, that, sadly, a number of weeks ago Andrew was out walking Bailey close to his Harryville home when an unaccompanied dog appeared and attacked Bailey, seriously injuring him.

Thankfully a local vet surgery was able to save Bailey.
