Ballymena Court: Charge of possessing a candle as an offensive weapon is dropped by prosecutors

A CHARGE a man was facing of possessing a candle as an offensive weapon with intent to commit grievous bodily harm has been withdrawn by prosecutors at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

John Stokes (37) had been charged in relation to June 29 this year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court a prosecutor said a charge of possessing cannabis on the same date was also being withdrawn.

A prosecutor said charges of assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and making a threat to kill the woman are proceeding.

The defendant’s address was listed as Carneal Close in Larne.

The case was adjourned to mid-November.
