A MAN punched and kicked a bedroom door leaving holes in it before he grabbed a woman by the hair and pulled her into a hall where he pushed her against a wall whilst shouting abuse, a court has heard.
Nathan James Somers (29), with an address listed, as Donore Crescent, Antrim, admitted charges of common assault and criminal damage in relation to an incident in the Ballymena area on May 9 this year.
Defence barrister Aaron Thompson said it was obviously a “very serious, frightening, incident”.
At Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant, who had a record, was put on Probation for 18 months with a condition that he undertakes the ‘Building Better Relationships’ programme.
District Judge Nigel Broderick told the defendant he could easily have gone to prison for such an offence as courts “take a very dim view of domestic violence”.
