Ballymena Court hears man was ‘somewhat shocked’ after being detected drink driving

A MAN was, according to his defence solicitor, “somewhat shocked” when he had an alcohol in breath reading of 66 – the legal limit is 35.

Mitko Tenev (31), of Clonavon Road, Ballymena, came to police attention at 1.30am on July 21 this year when police saw a vehicle “weaving” across traffic lanes at the town’s Linenhall Street.

Police stopped the defendant at Larne Road Link.

The court heard the defendant is Bulgarian and had been “making his way home from friends”.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court he was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
