Ballymena Court: Man banned from the roads for driving at 105mph

A MAN detected driving a Mercedes vehicle at a speed of 105mph has been banned for a month and fined £200 at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

Andrew Eric Bell (29), an unemployed salesman, of Seapark Lane, Holywood, County Down, exceeded the 70mph limit on the M2 northbound at 9.45pm on July 23 this year.

A defence lawyer said the defendant wished to apologise.

The lawyer said the weather was dry and the traffic appeared to have been light.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said such speeds were “unacceptable” and an aggravating factor was that the defendant had two previous convictions for speeding on his licence.
