Ballymena Court: Man is contesting charges of stealing dog and causing unnecessary suffering to the animal

A MAN is to contest charges of stealing a dog and causing unnecessary suffering to the animal, Ballymena Magistrates Court has heard.

The charges relate to August 4 this year.

The defendant is Michael McAllister (51), with an address listed as Glynnview Avenue in Larne.

A police officer said she believed she could connect the accused to the charges.

A defence lawyer said it was to be not guilty to both charges.

The case has been adjourned to October.
