A WOMAN has been banned from driving for a month after being detected driving at 102mph, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard.
Carrie Saunderson (25), was caught doing the speed in a Fiesta in a 70mph zone at the Belfast Road in the Larne area on June 10 this year.
Defence solicitor Kevin MacAllister said the defendant instructed the car is “her only escape” and the loss of her licence would be of “huge detriment”.
He asked if it could be dealt with as an “exceptional case”.
District Judge Nigel Broderick said he was prepared to temper his starting point of a three months road ban for speeds of over 100mph to a month disqualification and a £150 fine.
