A MAN altered his registration plate before making off from a filling station without paying for fuel, Ballymena Magistrates Court was told.
Gareth Drake (29), a joiner, admitted charges of making off without paying from Kilwaughter filling station near Larne and fraudulent use of a registration mark.
The offences happened on June 30 this year.
A prosecutor said a staff member checked CCTV and saw a man fill a van with £22.50 worth of diesel and move the vehicle to near the exit before he went into the store and paid for a coffee but not for fuel.
A defence solicitor said “lockdown got the better of” the defendant but he had already made restitution.
The defendant, of Great Northern Street in Belfast, was fined £200.
