Ballymena Court: Woman said she was ‘unaware’ car insurance had lapsed

A WOMAN has been given six penalty points and a £200 fine after being detected using a Vauxhall Astra without insurance at Cullybackey Road, Ballymena, on May 25 this year.

Kerry Ann Laverty (35), of Longlands in Clady near Portglenone, had the case mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court where the defence barrister was Thomas McKeever who said the defendant was unaware the insurance had lapsed.

The defendant was given six penalty points and a £200 fine.
