A BALLYMENA man taking his son to football on a Saturday morning was caught speeding on the Frosses Road.
Thomas Joseph Hamill (39), of Dunfane Park, admitted a charge of excess speed in connection with November 2 last year.
He was doing 78mph in a 60mph zone at 9.50am on the date in question.
Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on Friday, heard the defendant had failed to take up a fixed penalty ticket.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said that was because the defendant couldn’t find the paper part of his driving licence.
The lawyer said the defendant was taking his son to football on a Saturday morning and road was clear at the time.
The defendant was given three penalty points and fined £60.
