A Ballymena man who was jailed for an attack on a man who was found naked and battered in a taped-up wheelie bin has died suddenly in Spain at the age of 31.

Teri Lau passed away on Sunday in Benidorm.

His funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.

Mr Lau’s involvement in the high-profile wheelie bin incident in Ballymena has been recalled in press coverage today.

He was sentenced to three and a half years in 2015 – half to be served on licence – for imprisoning a man who was found in a taped-up wheelie bin at Sentry Hill in Ballymena.

Two other people were also jailed for their part in the same attack in 2013.
