BIG RISE IN COVID: Sunday’s update: 42 new reported coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim in last day 

THERE have been 42 new reported Covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.

There were 119 new cases reported across the whole of Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.

There have been 615 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 14,432 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

 

There were 101 new cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last week and in the same period Belfast had 82 new cases.

It meant Mid & East Antrim had the highest number of new cases in the last week.

The area also had the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days – 176 – compared to Belfast’s 148.

 

 

There have been 558 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 7 since yesterday – and 394 – up 9 in the last day – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

 

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 6,766.

Out of the 119 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Mid & East Antrim had 42; Derry City & Strabane had 20; Belfast had 17; Causeway Coast & Glens and Lisburn & Castlereagh each had 9.

Antrim & Newtownabbey had 7; Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon had 6; Newry, Mourne & Down had 6; Ards & North Down 3; Mid Ulster 1.

There were no new cases in Fermanagh & Omagh.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 559.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 44 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 60 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
