Broughshane Women’s Institute’s plans to mark their 80th anniversary are hit by pandemic

BROUGHSHANE Women’s Institute was set up on September 9 in 1940 as World War Two raged and they should have been celebrating their 80th anniversary this week but another foe – the covid pandemic – has disrupted their plans.

They are the latest local group whose plans have been affected by the general situation regarding covid.

However, they still aim to mark their milestone occasion as soon as possible.

President Janet Gaston said: “We remain hopeful to celebrate our 80th in style as soon as we are permitted to do so.”
