Call for council funding to be earmarked for street parties to celebrate next year’s 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day

Cllr Matthew Armstrong

COUNCIL funding should be given towards street parties to mark next year’s 75th anniversary of Victory In Europe Day, Ballymena Traditional Unionist Voice councillor Matthew Armstrong says.

Speaking at a council meeting in the town he asked for changes to be made to the Mid & East Antrim Borough Council grants scheme so that community groups could have street parties to mark the occasion of the anniversary of the ending of World War Two in Europe.

Council Chief Executive Anne Donaghy said a report would be prepared and brought to a council committee.
