Coronavirus: One-in one-out queuing system at Tesco in Ballymena as X marks the spot

A queuing system is in operation at the main Tesco store in Ballymena.

CUSTOMERS using the main Tesco store in Ballymena on Wednesday evening had to queue outside in a specially cordoned off area because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The shop was operating a one in-one out system and tape in the shape of an X was placed at intervals on the ground to encourage people to keep their distance from each other.

A customer told ‘Ballymena Daily’: “It wasn’t as if there was only one person in the store at a time.

“When I went in there were others inside but the numbers were definitely down on recent days.”

Spray was available at the door to be used on handles of trolleys and baskets.

And in the store at the cigarette kiosk customers were told to stand back two metres – again on a marked out X – from the staff member while goods were being put through the till.

  • Pity they didn’t do that few weeks ago when people struggled to get every day shopping in the house for a normal family
