MID and East Antrim Borough Council has launched a Christmas themed Schools Recycling Competition.
Primary and Secondary schools from across the Borough are being encouraged to get involved in this year’s festive competition with the winning poster from each town area being put on display at their local Household Recycling Centre (HRC).
What’s involved? Pupils are being asked to design an A1 Christmas themed recycling poster that encourages families across the borough to recycle more over the festive season.
Pupils could draw, a lovely reindeer, a Christmas scene or Santa Claus in his grotto, with the poster illustrating any items that should be recycled at Christmas.
Pupils can put their creativity to the test by drawing, painting or sticking items together to create a fantastic poster that emphasises the importance of recycling items such as plastic and cardboard packaging, sweetie tins and real Christmas trees over the festive period.
This competition will encourage pupils, teachers and parents alike to think about waste, the environment and what items can be recycled at a time of year when the amount of landfilled waste typically soars.
All entries will be judged with the winning school in each of the three town areas, Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus, having their poster displayed at their local HRC throughout December.
All entries will be displayed within Council buildings throughout December to illustrate the pupil’s hard work and effort in acknowledging recycling.
Entries are to be submitted to Waveney Road HRC, Ballymena, Redlands HRC, Larne and Sullatober HRC, Carrickfergus by Friday 22 November 2019.
