COUNCILLORS have been given an update on progress to date on a potential new Community Centre in Broughshane.

Details were given at Mid & East Antrim Borough Council by Chief Executive Anne Donaghy.

Discussion of the matter came at the behind-closed-doors section of a Council meeting from which the public and press are excluded.

However, the Council ‘minutes’ of what was discussed added: ‘The Deputy Mayor (DUP councillor Beth Adger) remarked that the current Community Centre facilities in Broughshane were not fit for purpose’.

  • We currently have our gateway club there every fortnight , we are a club for adults with learning & physical disabilities . We are anxiously waiting for the new centre to be rebuilt & updated , as the facilities are very poor , especially the toilets . We have expanded over the years from 40 to 60 members & some of them have very complex needs .
