Court in Ballymena hears man bit bouncer on leg

Ballymena Court

A MAN bit a bouncer leaving a mark on his leg, a court in Ballymena has been told.

Mark O’Neill (22) is due to be sentenced on November 2 for offences of disorderly behaviour and assault in relation to incidents at The Anchor in Portstewart on December 8 last year.

A prosecutor told Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, that at 12.10am on December 8 last year the defendant had been viewed by doorstaff “taking a swing” at an unknown male in a smoking area.

When restrained the defendant bit one of the bouncers “on the lower left calf leaving a mark”.

The prosecutor said police viewed CCTV which showed a “completely unprovoked attack” on the male in the smoking area by the defendant.

A defence lawyer said the defendant was on two suspended sentences.

District Judge Liam McNally said he would need the defendant, an electrician, present at court for sentencing.

The case involving the defendant, of Denamona Court, Fintona, County Tyrone, was adjourned to November 2.
