Driving ban for motorist detected doing 71mph on Ballymena’s Antrim Road at four o’clock in the afternoon

A MOTORIST detected doing 71mph in a 40mph zone at Antrim Road in Ballymena at 4pm on October 31 last year has been banned from driving for two weeks and fined £200.

Shane Hillis (26), of Lanntara in Ballymena, admitted a charge of excess speed.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant wished to apologise.

The lawyer said on the date in question the defendant had an appointment with a Credit Union.
