THE Planning Committee of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has granted planning permission for a new 14 bedroom accommodation block as an addition to the Ramble Inn on the Lisnevenagh Road between Ballymena and Antrim.
Welcoming the decision, Committee Chairman, Alderman Philip Brett said: “This is great news for the Borough.
“The proposal represents a fantastic investment of over £800,000 by the owners of the Ramble Inn and will provide much needed guest accommodation and complement the existing bar, restaurant and function room facilities that are well used by day trippers, shoppers, tourists, business people and local families alike.
“The proposal has been designed to fit in with the existing buildings and the development will support construction jobs in the short term and on completion will provide seven new full and part time jobs.
“Located on a key route linking Belfast to the north coast and the Glens of Antrim the new accommodation block will undoubtedly help Antrim and Newtownabbey capitalise on the growing tourism and business market in Northern Ireland.”
