Friday’s update: 28 new covid cases in Mid & East Antrim as Northern Ireland daily tally surges through 1,000 barrier for first time

THERE were 28 new covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day as the Northern Ireland daily tally broke the 1,000 barrier for the first time.

The latest local daily figure of 28 locally was up from 18 in the district the previous day.

In Mid & East Antrim the 28 new cases came from 241 tests.

There are now 986 cases in the district out of 24,998 tests.

The previous day in Northern Ireland there had been 923 cases.

There were 1,080 cases across Northern Ireland in the last day.

The overall number of cases in Northern Ireland is now 18,190.

There were no covid-related deaths reported in the latest information released by the Department of Health.

 

The number of new cases in each district was as follows:

Antrim & Newtownabbey – 64

Ards & North Down – 34

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon – 51

Belfast – 306

Causeway Coast & Glens – 44

Derry City & Strabane – 278

Fermanagh & Omagh – 40

Lisburn & Castlereagh – 49

Mid & East Antrim – 28

Mid Ulster – 73

Newry, Mourne & Down – 92

‘Not known’ – 21

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 587.
