Friday’s update: One new reported Covid case in Mid & East Antrim as Belfast sees highest rise in cases over last seven days

THERE has been one new reported Covid case locally in the last 24 hours which saw Mid & East Antrim being overtaken by Belfast as the area with highest rise in cases over the last seven days.

There were 20 new cases reported across the whole of Northern Ireland in the last day.

There have been 554 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 13,401 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

 

There were 67 new cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last week and in the same period Belfast had 71 new cases.

Mid & East Antrim and Belfast both had 128 new cases over the last 14 day period.

There have been 541 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey and 379 in Causeway Coast & Glens since the pandemic began.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 6,576.

Out of the 20 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 8 followed by Causeway Coast & Glens with four.

Mid Ulster had three cases; Antrim & Newtownabbey 2 while Newry Mourne & Down; Mid & East Antrim and Derry City & Strabane each had one.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 559.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 44 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 60 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
