THREE new cases of people testing positive for coronavirus have been reported in the Mid & East Antrim area.
The Department of Health statistics, issued on Friday, means there have now been 296 recorded positive cases in the borough since the pandemic began.
Statistics relating to the number of deaths regarding coronavirus are different with the Department of Health figure saying there have been 38 deaths in the borough and NISRA (Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency) figures – which are published weekly on Fridays – putting the Borough’s Covid-related death toll at 43.
The NISRA stats show there were 652 deaths related to pandemic across Northern Ireland and the Department of Health’s current figure is 504 with three of those deaths being recorded in the last 24 hours.
Of those three deaths – one happened in the last day and the other two at an earlier date but they were only recorded in the current period.
There have been 372 cases of people testing positive for coronavirus in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 193 in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.
Across Northern Ireland, it was revealed on Friday, there have been 23 new coronavirus cases to bring the total since the start of the crisis to 4,504.
The daily figures this week for new cases across Northern Ireland for Monday to Thursday were: 16, 20, 18 and 42.
