Funding boost is early Christmas present for town centres

MID & East Antrim Borough Council has secured funds to help promote the area in the run up to Christmas.

A report prepared for councillors said the Council received £30,000 from the Department for Communities to deliver a ‘tailored marketing campaign’ for Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus.

It was said the funding complemented current activity.

The report said: ‘Council has already planned budget for a Christmas campaign (Find your Christmas) to attract people to our towns (MEA residents and wider NI audience) and to drive awareness aligned to seasonal activity planned (switch-ons etc).’

It is envisged, the report added, that the additional funding from DfC will cover some marketing activity of Mid & East Antrim in a number of towns across Northern Ireland ‘as well as the production of a TV advertisement’.

The report added: ‘The funds will assist in positioning our town centres as prime shopping destinations over the festive period’.
