GLENARIFF Forest has been named in the top ten areas in the UK to see Red Squirrels in a BBC survey.
A Glens Red Squirrel group spokesperson said: “The group have been working over ten years to help our local red squirrels.”
An event was held on Sunday at the forest.
This year has seen a fantastic abundance of natural foods for our local red squirrels. This red was filimed while it eat the Beech Mast. It was about 20min before our Ranger could see the squirrel in the trees she didnt like being filmed while it was eating. There was also 15 wood pigions taking advantage of the seeds the tree had to offer.
