Insurance offence is detected at late night police checkpoint in Harryville

A MAN has been given six penalty points and fined £150 for using a vehicle without insurance.

Gordon Adger (21), with an address listed as Royal Court, Gracehill, had the offence detected when a Suzuki car was being used at Queen Street in Ballymena on July 22 this year.

The defendant had been stopped at a police vehicle checkpoint at 1.15am on the date in question.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant had believed he was insured but in fact a family member had re-arranged cover and had “overlooked” to include the defendant.
