THERE was Irish Cup final heartache for Ballymena United as they lost 2-1 to Glentoran after extra-time at Windsor Park on Friday night.
Glentoran had taken the lead before Ballymena levelled through Cathair Friel.
However, a Glentoran winner near the end of extra-time broke Ballymena hearts.
Although beaten, Ballymena fans were proud of the spirited performance shown by their side.
The Ballymena United FC Facebook page said: ‘That’s it for another season, they gave it their all, but sometimes the luck is just out.’
There were only 500 fans – 250 from each club – allowed in the ground because of coronavirus restrictions.
