Jam-packed virtual programme of Arts and Culture to enjoy

Contemporary artist, Audrey Kyle, is one of the artists doing a virtual workshop on Thursday.

WHILE our buzzing arts, culture, museums and music scenes are in temporary hibernation it does not mean you have to be!

Mid and East Antrim Borough council has been working a programme of activities to keep you entertained as we all spend more time at home.

Each week Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Arts and Culture service will be bringing you entertainment workshops, performances and virtual museums and exhibitions.

Tune in over the week via the Council’s Facebook and Instagram, to be entertained, learn a new hobby or get some idea to keep the kids entertained!

The programme will aim to support local artists, performers, and arts organisation by showcasing the talent we have within Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, particularly through this tough time.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston, said: “At the moment it’s so important that we maintain access to arts and culture in our borough.

“Arts and Culture plays a vital part in terms of our health and wellbeing. It has been great to see how some of our citizens have adapted to the situation with doorstep photography, virtual choirs, murals and rainbow art and many more activities and projects.

“Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is delighted that we will be working with local artists, musicians and performers in the creative industries to produce an exciting virtual programme supporting them through this difficult time.

“From virtual museum tours, exhibitions to music performances, art demos and activities to keep the kids entertained there will be something for everyone. Through our virtual platforms, we will maintain a vibrant arts and culture service, which will no doubt bring some light to the current times.”

The programme starts today (Tuesday 16 June) kicking off with ‘Treasures from Home’ where the Museum service will be outlining how you can explore your roots.
