Landslides at popular visitor attraction – councillors get update

A landslide at Cranny Falls.

COUNCILLORS have received an update regarding “landslides” at a popular visitor attraction.

The landslides happened at Cranny Falls near Carnlough.

Councillors were given an operations update regarding issues such as environment education, parks, cemeteries and open spaces, sports pitches, open spaces and harbours and marinas.

‘Significant improvements’ at Taylor’s Avenue – the home ground of Carrick Rangers FC – were referred to.

Minutes of a Mid & East Antrim Borough Council committee added: ‘The Director provided clarification to queries raised in relation to Ballymena Bowling Club, Whitehead Boat Club, Sandy Bay Pavilion, landslides at Cranny Falls, Ballylumford oil leakage, an abandoned boat at Ballylumford Harbour and anti-social behaviour at the Newferry site’.

The minutes did not say when the landslide happened at Cranny Falls.

It is unclear if the landslide mention was an update regarding a landslide last summer at Cranny Fall or if there had been another incident.
