KENNY Bruce, the multi-millionaire owner of Larne Football Club, could be set to get the ‘Freedom of the Borough’ of Mid & East Antrim.

The motion to come before councillors.

A Notice of Motion by Larne DUP councillor Gregg McKeen, seconded by his party colleague Councillor Andrew Clarke, has been tabled for next Monday’s council meeting in Ballymena.

It reads: ‘That this Council bestow the Freedom of the Borough on Mr Kenny Bruce in recognition of his contribution to the Larne community’.

Mr Bruce has transformed the fortunes of Larne Football Club.

The Purplebricks tycoon also has business plans for Larne and last month he was given planning permission for a new boutique hotel in the town.

Mr Bruce is the co-founder of online estate agency Purplebricks.

Since taking control of Larne FC in recent years the businessman has invested millions of pounds at Inver Park, the Belfast Telegraph recently reported.
