DETECTIVES investigating an aggravated burglary at a house in the Mill View area of Randalstown last night (Tuesday 7th January) when a ‘Samurai Sword’ was allegedly among weapons carried by a gang have arrested a 27-year-old man.
Shortly before 7:20pm, police received a report that three vehicles had pulled up outside a house in Mill View and a number of men brandishing weapons, and who had their faces partially covered, entered the house.
One of them was reported to be armed with a samurai sword, while others had what was described as sticks or bats.
A man inside the property sustained injuries to his back and hand during the incident.
Damage was caused to the inside of the house during the incident.
Detective Sergeant Coulter said: “A man, aged 27 years old, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
“I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who may have been in the area, between 7:10pm and 7:20pm last night, and who saw any suspicious persons, or who saw three vehicles pull up outside a house in Mill View and who may have captured their movements on their dash cam, to get in touch with us by calling the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1652 of 07/01/20.”
