POLICE investigating a report of an assault on two teenagers – including a 14-year-old boy who suffered “serious facial injuries” – in Randalstown on Saturday, have arrested a 55 year old man.
A PSNI spokesperson said he was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.
At the weekend police said the teenagers – the other was a 17-year-old boy – were assaulted by a number of men in the Neillsbrook Park area, Randalstown, at approximately 9.30pm on Saturday.
The 14 year old youth was taken to hospital where he was treated for “serious facial injuries”. The 17 year old sustained minor injuries.
Detective Inspector Boyd said at the weekend: “This was an extremely vicious attack with one of the youths sustaining very serious injuries.”
