A MAN and woman in their 20s who died in a horror crash near Glarryford on Wednesday have been named as Andrew Burke and Naomi Lynn.
They died in a collision on the Duneany Road around 2pm on Wednesday.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have been on the Duneany Road on Wednesday afternoon, prior to or around the time of the collision, or anyone who recorded any dashcam or mobile phone footage that could potentially help their investigation to get in touch on 101 quoting reference number CCS 853 190220.
Bannside TUV councillor, Alderman Stewart McDonald, said: “The accident on Wednesday has shocked the local community.”
He said any road accident comes as a shock but when young people are involved it is particularly tragic.
“Two families have been plunged into grief. I only hope that it is some small consolation that they are in the thoughts and prayers of many people in the local area and further afield,” the councillor said.
Alderman John Smyth, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, told ‘Ballymena Daily’: “I was really saddened to hear of the tragic deaths of the two young people”.
He wished to pass on his sympathies and said his thoughts and prayers were with both families.
Mr Burke was 23 years old.
