Man charged with robbery at ‘The Phoenix’ in Ballymena is set to have case sent to Crown Court

A MAN accused of robbing The Phoenix supermarket/filling station in Ballymena of cash in May this year is set to have the matter sent to the Crown Court.

Jack McShane (18), of Drumeil Road, Aghadowey, faces several charges connected to May 1.

Other charges include attempted robbery of Winemark; attempted criminal damage to tills at The Phoenix; possession of an iron bar as an offensive weapon; four assaults; two assaults on police and criminal damage to a police earpiece.

He is also charged with possessing Ecstasy and LSD.

At Ballymena Magistates Court a prosecutor adjourned the case to October to fix a date for a Preliminary Enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court.
