Man is due to contest charges including allegedly having a brush shaft as an offensive weapon on Valentine’s Day

A MAN is due to contest charges including allegedly possessing an offensive weapon – a brush shaft – at Casement Street in Ballymena on Valentine’s Day this year.

Blair Rainey (24), is also accused of making a threat to kill, common assault and causing criminal damage to an Audi A4 car on the same date.

Ballymena Magistrates Court heard a contest in the case is due to be held in December.

Meanwhile, the defendant has admitted assaulting a police officer on March 1 this year.

In another case the defendant is accused of possessing a Samurai Sword and a spanner as offensive weapons in Broughshane at the end of September.

He is also charged with assault and possessing cannabis relating to the same date – September 26 this year.

That case was adjourned to December.
