Man says ‘hundreds of pounds’ worth of damage caused in arson attack on his flat in Ballymena

A MAN whose home was badly damaged in a late night arson attack said hundreds of pounds worth of damage was caused.

Police are investigating an arson attack on a flat, in which no one was present at the time, at Devenagh Way in Ballymena during the early hours of this morning, Sunday 22 November.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “It’s understood the rear kitchen window was smashed and an accelerant poured inside at around 4.15am.

“The fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen and hallway.”

The house-holder, who didn’t wish to be named, told ‘Ballymena Daily’ he didn’t know why someone would set the property on fire.

He said items damaged in the fire included clothes.
