A MAN has been shot at a house in Mosside.

The Knockmore Road area of the village was sealed off by police on Monday night.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Just after 7.30pm police received a report that a man had been shot at a residential property.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“An investigation is now underway. Anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with information about it is asked to call detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1841 of 22/02/21.

“A report can also be submitted online at or alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey said: “Over the last number of months there have been an increased number of such attacks.

“I have previously expressed my concern and that of the local community, that if there is not an end to these incidents someone is going to get seriously injured or even worse.

“Whatever the reason and whoever is involved I would urge them to bring this reign of terror to an end.

“Anyone with any information should give that to the Police as a matter of urgency.”

Sinn Féin North Antrim MLA Philip McGuigan said: “I condemn totally this shooting in Mosside and my thoughts are with the victim.

“This obviously isn’t an isolated incident. In fact the frequency of this type of shooting incident across a small geographical area of North Antrim and East Derry is extremely disturbing.

“The PSNI need to get to grips with this situation and catch the thugs responsible.”
