Motorist admits driving dangerously and with excess alcohol after court hears vehicle ‘sailed 20ft into the air’

A MAN has pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol in breath after a court heard his vehicle “sailed into the air – rising 20ft”.

Stewart Wright (46), with an address listed as Slievenanee Drive in Cargan – but now said to living in Cultra in County Down – was involved in a collision at Cloughwater Road on July 6 this year.

A defence lawyer told Ballymena Magistrates Court it had been a “very serious” incident and asked for a pre-sentence report.

The lawyer said the defendant’s vehicle had been “written off” after the “terrible” driving.

He said his client had been on the “other” side of the road with “oncoming traffic” before the vehicle “sailed into the air over a bank rising 20ft”.

The case was adjourned to October.
