Motorist doing 103mph near Ballymena ‘simply pressed her foot too hard’

Ballymena Court

A MOTORIST detected doing 103mph has, at Ballymena Magistrates Court, been banned from driving for a month and fined £150.

Danielle McBride (29), of Caman Drive, Ballycastle, was detected on the Crankill Road dual-carriageway – a 70mph zone – near Ballymena on September 19 this year.

She admitted a charge of ‘excess speed’.

Defence solicitor Sara Edge told the court, sitting in Antrim, the offence was “completely out of character”.

She said the defendant had recently changed her vehicle and being unaware of its power and had “simply pressed her foot too hard”.

The solicitor said any ban would have an impact on the defendant in the run up to Christmas.
