Mum’s relief after son escapes serious injury after being thrown onto river bank following motorbike collision

A mum has spoken of her relief that her son escaped serious injury after being thrown from his motorbike and ending up on a river bank near Slemish.

Karen Crawford was speaking after the Air Ambulance was called out as part of the rescue  of her son Callum on Friday.

The PSNI said officers were at the scene of a road traffic collision along with the Fire Service, Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance.

The PSNI said a motorcyclist came off his bike on the Hazelbank Road next to Buckna Gospel Hall.

They said the rider was taken to hospital.

The Ballymena PSNI Facebook page added: ‘Great effort from #Team999 to rescue the rider who had ended up on the river bank below the bridge after being thrown from the motorbike.”

Mum Karen Crawford took to the PSNI Facebook page to say: “Callum is doing great! No broken bones or fractures thankfully. Few bumps and bruises and very sore. Getting home tonight! Lucky young man xx”
