THE man who appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court after detectives from the PSNI’s Economic Crime Unit charged him in connection with a multi-million pound investment fraud investigation is Paul Dougan.
The 50-year-old was arrested in Glasgow on Wednesday and was subsequently charged with 147 offences including fraud and possessing criminal property.
He appeared at Ballymena Magistrates on Saturday morning where he was remanded into custody.
The 147 charges refer to 135 alleged victims across the UK.
Police only released details of the court appearance on Saturday afternoon and it was not believed any reporters were present at the earlier hearing.
However, ‘Ballymena Daily’ can now reveal the man in court was Paul Dougan with addresses listed on court documents as Vevay Road in Bray and Hughenden Gardens, Glasgow.
The case has been adjourned to the end of October to a court in Derry/Londonderry.
