NORTH Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has written to the new Infrastructure Minister to urge investment in parts of the area were further housing development had been stalled due to sewage and waste water treatment plants having reached capacity.
Mr. McGuigan said: “There is lots of investment promised as a result of this new deal and part of that is for upgrading our water and sewage system.
“Unfortunately waste treatment capacity has long since been reached across a number of villages and towns in North Antrim.
“This has stalled further housing development and growth in these places. Recent development in Ballycastle and Ballintoy are welcome but work and investment is required in parts of Ballymena town and some North Antrim villages such as like Armoy, Ballyvoy, Clough, Grange, Ballybogy and Dervock.
“We must see this additional money promised by the British government being released as soon as possible and invested so that local citizens and communities here in North Antrim can develop and our villages and towns grow and prosper.”
